As many as one third of Americans make a resolution to lose weight in the New Year. Unfortunately, most become discouraged and give up by February or March. One reason for this is that every January the American consumer is barraged with diets, supplements and exercise equipment that simply don’t work.
If you have been trying to shed some extra pounds, don’t give up. Here are some tips that have been proven to work:
Eat more whole, one ingredient foods.
Reduce consumption of refined carbohydrates such as white bread and pasta.
Reduce sugar intake.
Increase protein intake.
Avoid soda, fruit juice and alcoholic beverages.
Eat more vegetables.
Increase fiber intake.
Drink water before meals.
Reduce portion size by using a smaller plate.
Divide restaurant portions in half.
Eat an egg for breakfast every morning.
Perform aerobic exercise at least 4x each week.
Do strength training exercises at least 2x each week.
Drink black coffee or green tea each morning.
Plan ahead and keep healthy food on hand.
Set your fork down often.
Brush your teeth right after dinner.
Get at least seven hours of sleep each night.
Exercise, eat for health and weight will come off.
